Thermowells or ‘Pockets’
Thermowells or ‘Pockets’ are used on thermometers. They can be used as a barrier to increase the temperature that the thermometer can withstand. Also, they can be used to help the thermometer to be released from the system and to stop any liquid being released when this happens.

‘U’ Syphons and ‘Ring’ Type Syphons
Syphons can be used to condense vapour into liquid before it damages the gauge, to cool the gauge when working on a process involving high temperatures and also, they can be used to change the direction of pipework to a gauge (for example; ‘u’ syphon: at a right angle).
